ESG & Sustainability in Real Estate Summit: 16-17 June, 2021
About the event
The ESG & Sustainability in Real Estate Summit examines the convergence between Real Estate & Capital Markets and how architects, building owners and operators need to design and build more sustainably to achieve better social outcomes through an ESG lens.
Sustainability has moved to the top of the agenda for Investors and Governments around the world. The Built Environment is a major source of greenhouse gas emissions and waste. Greater sustainable practices need to be applied to the construction materials used, supply chain and transport of these materials, the construction processes including waste and the energy and water required for buildings to function once complete.
Investors are being far more selective in who to fund and are increasingly looking at real estate companies and the built world through an Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) lens. The summit will examine these issues and feature leading domestic and international experts to explore the new wave of real estate investment, development, maintenance and sustainability.

BUILDING FOR GOOD
Sustainability has moved to the top of the agenda for many governments around the world, who have agreed to, and are being held accountable to emissions targets that have been established.
The Built Environment is a major source of greenhouse gas emissions. This applies to the materials used, supply chain (transport of materials), construction processes and the energy required for buildings to function. (lighting, HVAC etc)
The responsible/ethical investment movement is also gathering steam, with investors, fund managers, banks etc recognising the role they have to play in bringing about sustainability goals in tandem with Government.
They are being far more selective in who to fund/back and are looking at real estate companies and transactions through an ESG lens.
These two things together are forcing companies involved in real estate to review their approaches to construction, design, materials and the use of technologies to create buildings and cities that operate with sustainability at their core.
At the same time, owners/operators and developers are being incentivised to accelerate this shift by central banks & government (green bonds), plus tax incentives and a range of other financial instruments.
This exclusive Summit will bring together senior execs from the global real estate industry to:
- Examine changes in attitude towards ESG
- Debate the impact of new expectations in social practice on the industry
- Establish best practice for investment managers
- Share global experience to better support the real estate industry’s ESG efforts
